About Nourished Root

------  Planting the Seeds

The seeds for Nourished Root were planted when I began my own journey with understanding my own health and searching for a different way. In my early 20s I struggled with depression, anxiety, stress and strong emotions, particularly anger, in a way I had never previously felt before. I began to take medication, something I was told I’d be on for the rest of my life. There was still a lot that felt unknown for me and I knew that my current environment, how I was caring for myself and my body could be improved. I started to get really curious about finding a way to nourish a vibrant life.

------  Watering the Seeds

Food has always been an important part of my life and it's the way my family passed along it's history and traditions. When I think about the special moments I spent with my father, I think about the times we made Easter Sweet bread known as Kaak, and Kibbee Labaneyeh (a delicious football looking food, with homemade Laban, a yogurt filing) together in the kitchen. And so to me food will always have a special place in my heart, because it's not just about what's in the food, it's the memories that we make and love while we're preparing it. 

 

------  Cultivating Nourished Root 

As I began to shift how I cared for my body, I realized that my true passion was being a guide for other people. Helping them enjoy time in the kitchen with uncomplicated cooking techniques and meal preparation to grow their confidence with what they were nourishing their bodies with. So I made the leap after many years in school and working in the corporate world to register and complete Meghan Telpner's Culinary Nutrition Expert Program . Not only did this course give me a profound nutrition knowledge but it also fuelled my interest further into alternative health and wellness leading me to the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where I've completed a diploma in Applied Holistic Nutrition in Ottawa, ON.

 

If you're feeling that same tug in your heat to find a different path, way of eating and nourishing your body, I'd love to connect with you and be your guide on this journey by:

  • Empowering you to choose healthy foods by taking you through the whole process, from consultation, to the grocery store or farmer’s market to your kitchen. Creating customized nutrition programs and meal plans made just for YOU.
